In the winter of 1846, the Donner Party was stranded by heavy snows in the Sierra Nevada mountains. The pioneers endured bitter hardships and many of them died. It took a bit to get used to the storytelling from the doll's point of view. However the reader made it work. Amazing history - those people were tough! Sacrificing everything for a better life. Oh, how I wish that was the spirit of America again!
