Rowan Harbor has been peaceful for a now unprecedented two months, but everyone knows it’s the calm before the storm. The Summer king is coming for the thorn—a weapon destined to bring his end—and Fletcher has never felt so helpless.

When the disturbing dreams start and his mentor, Oak, is hesitant to discuss them, Fletcher doesn’t know where to turn. He and his boyfriend Conner are in the process of moving in together, and he doesn’t want to add anything else to Conner’s list of concerns.

With a vengeful fae waiting for his chance to raze Rowan Harbor to the ground, Fletcher has to find a way to protect everything he loves and survive the coming storm.

Wren and the Oak delivers a deeply satisfying conclusion for Fletcher and Connor, blending quiet emotional intimacy with the pulse of Rowan Harbor’s final challenges. Fletcher’s transformation—from reluctant newcomer to someone deeply rooted in both love and community—is matched by Connor’s calm strength and fierce protectiveness. Burns layers their romance with moments of humor, vulnerability, and deep trust, making their connection feel lived-in and unshakable. The larger series threads tie off gracefully here, with just enough magic and danger to keep the tension humming.

I have had some pretty rough years, maybe a couple of decades, but this series has been a joy for me esp this book. I can only imagine what this writer has gone through, but your stories helped me hope for better days and a better community like Rowan Harbor. Thank you.

This story in particular was so well done, although I will admit that some of the points were pushed a bit to much and could have been left unsaid the 3rd or 4th plus times. ;) I very much enjoyed the read and the narrator did a marvelous job of conveying emotions. All around a wonderful read and this entire series I look forward to rereading as a reminder there are places for each and every one of us and a community that would accept and love us as we need to be loved.

Keep writing Sam, please.
