My girlfriend is a black woman and we read this book together. This book talks very well about the struggles of a black woman, the health issues, and that constant pressure to be 'strong' But this book, it's more than just laying out the hard truths. It's full of practical advice, real steps to take care of ourselves better. Loved the part about healing the inner child. It’s not just talk; it’s real tools to make a change. Totally recommended

“Self Care for Black Women” was such a good read (listen to)! I really appreciated all the real-life examples of women who sacrifice themselves and suffer to try to be that “strong black woman” but end up feeling alone, exhausted and emotionally depleted. It makes you feel like you are not the only one feeling this way. There are lots of tools and help in this book to bring back the strength and life that we all need as women. Very well written and narrated. Highly recommend.

This is something we all need!

This is a special audiobook; it really strikes a chord of truth and honesty. I was very much touched by the narrator's delivery of the author's words. I was so moved by hearing the words spoken that black women must take care of themselves; they absolutely must. Black women have been asked to do so much, and have done so much more than anyone else for so long that they have completely given themselves away, deferring their own care to the care of those they love or work for or simply must interact with. I loved the analogy in the audiobook about how a mother would never let her child go hungry, or not eat healthy food, or get enough sleep, or get proper exercise, and so on and so on, yet that is exactly how she allows herself to be treated. Hearing these words and examples stopped me in my tracks and made me think. This audiobook certainly motivated me to take better care of myself and value myself more; so should you!

Incredibly Powerful!

I love how the author emphasizes the importance of self-love and self-acceptance. It's a reminder that we are worthy of love and respect just as we are. Overall, I highly recommend this audiobook to all Black women who want to prioritize their well-being and live their best lives. It's a powerful guide that will inspire you to love yourself fiercely and unapologetically.

You'll find practical strategies, affirmations, and self-reflection exercises to help you overcome self-sabotage, cultivate self-love, and live a life aligned with your values and aspirations. I enjoyed learning the root causes of my self-sabotage, including internalized racism, societal expectations, and perfectionism. This book will call you out and you'll love it.
