As they look closer, they dredge up troublesome facts: for one, Minnie’s daughter, Alice, has recently vanished. She’d been hard up after her pet grooming business went under and was in line to collect a whopping insurance sum should anything happen to her mother. The same was due to Minnie’s estranged husband, Al, whose kryptonite (beautiful, money-grubbing women) had left him with only a run-down mobile home. But did Minnie’s foolish, cash-strapped family really have it in them to commit a crime this grisly? Or is there a larger, far more sinister scheme at work?
Irreverent, wise-cracking, and full of atmosphere and bite, Sugar on the Bones is not to be missed.

Lucky Thirteen

Aah, as soon as I hear Hap’s wry inner monologue, it’s like settling in to my favorite duck taped recliner.

“Both sides needed a good hosing.”
Same goes for Leonard’s outer monologue and his honey badger digs. Book 13 is Lansdale at peak performance and Hap and Leonard at their quintessential best. The twists. The turns. The fascinating and unique characters. I loved it.

“The elephant of surprise.”
While this could be a good standalone, what really makes this boogie is heavies, friends and frenemies from past books coming together seven samurai style. Proper respect for backstories and characters (not all of whom will survive) means at least listening to Vanilla Ride, Veil’s Visit, and Rusty Puppy. Or, dig right in to this tasty treat, because there’s definitely sugar on these bones.

East Texas adventures

I always enjoy the Hap and Leonard adventures. Lots of humor, plenty of violence, some life philosophy, and the unshakable bond of friendship between these two opposite characters. The narrator is great !

Great story! plenty of humor and action

I love hearing the latest stage of life for Hap and Leonard. Several fun and entertaining addional characters. I loved all the action and like all the Joe R. Landsdale books I have listened to, I laughed a lot!

Great continuation of the series and brought the story to life

I liked the plot it was as outlandish as the rest of the Hap and Leonard series
