After a tragedy strikes the Barnes family, Sarah's husband Tom begins acting strangely. It starts with wild mood-shifts and accusations at their thirteen-year old daughter, but quickly escalates to the attempted murder of an off-season mall Santa.

From what Sarah can tell, Tom's only motive seems to lie behind a mysterious hatred for Christmas that burns year round. What's worse, Tom's only defense lies in a long-forgotten book he wrote detailing a traumatic event in his childhood that seems too far-fetched to be believed. His entire case revolves around the notion of talking Christmas trees, a living army of toys, and worst of all, a monster masquerading as Mrs. Claus.

Now, Sarah must go on a journey into her husband's past to learn if Tom is in the midst of a psychotic breakdown, if he's a danger to his family, or if he really is being hunted by the malevolent holiday horror that destroyed his childhood.

An instant favorite! So Tender and Terrifying at the same time

I honestly don’t know where to start. I picked this up on a whim and didn’t know what to expect. The idea of a holiday horror novel just sounded fun and we needed something to listen to on the long drive home for Thanksgiving. No more than a chapter in and my wife and I were hooked. The characters are incredibly well formed and their stories are so well told! The story and the people in it are so grounded in reality that you almost start to believe this all actually happened. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but the way the book is formatted is incredibly unique and the pacing is spot on. We honestly didn’t want it to end. At one point I missed my turn because I was so into the story, I double back and literally missed the turn again. This is my childhood home and I know the route like the back of my hand but I was just so into the story that I struggled to focus. I think my wife said it best “We have to turn it off for a bit, it’s too good and I am afraid you are going to have us driving in circles until it’s over.

Pick this one up, it will not disappoint!

Oooo final thought… the audio book is the way to go on this book… for reasons… I don’t want to spoil it

Great story!

I really enjoyed this book! I love Christmas Horror and this just hit all the spots. Great characters, amazing monsters!! The writing was well paced and I was constantly trying to find time to read one more chapter.

Ho Ho Hold on a minute

Ha! Well that was not the Christmas story I was expecting! Well done and man it kept me guessing at what in the heck was happening to this poor family. This is about as much of a Christmas story as NOS4A2 is. Christmas is there because of the happiness and goodwill that goes along with the holiday but it could have easily been most other holidays. Well, except for the evil Hummel figures and Christmas tree but other than that it could have been most other holidays.

Fantastic narration and wonderful story

The narrators really brought life to this Yuletide tale of terror. I was completely immersed in Tom’s world and could not look away. Loved it!

Great Addition to Christmas Horror!

The narrators were great. The story was well paced and a lot of fun.

Some points were a little rushed and I would have liked a tad more development of the secondary characters. However, none of that detracted from the story.

If you like the Christmas horror genre, this book is a must!
