The original book, now Volume 1, was published before the trial of Alex Murdaugh for the murder of his wife, Maggie, and his son, Paul, that started on January 23, 2023, because the author was not expecting that there would be a trial at all.

Well, we all get some things wrong … and this second volume is about how Alex Murdaugh’s story got told during his police interviews and the trial itself.

The climax of the trial came when Alex Murdaugh elected to take the stand himself, to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Well, something like that.

Detailed and informative

I really liked how at the beginning of the narration, the author admitted where several mistakes were made in the first volume of this book, not many will admit that. Overall I enjoyed it, I discovered a few details that aren’t in the many documentaries out there so that was a plus for me.

Terrible AI

Loved the story, did not like the AI! All of the miss-pronunciations really bugged me.

Better than Volume One

The Murdaugh Murders continue to fascinate, even after the major aspects have been resolved (not counting the Stephen Smith murder). This volume is a continuation of book one. Like the first, it has little details I have not heard anywhere else.

My only complaint is the use of AI-generated narration. One would think that a book of this magnitude could have a publishing budget to allow for the hiring of a real person to record the book. Oh, well, we can't have everything.

I commend the writer on her research and unique writing style, a bit snarky at times, but that is her prerogative. Overall, this is an important addition to the Murdaugh Family scholarship. I recommend it

very informative. I have followed this topic from the beginning when the murders happened. You've done your research for sure. what's amazing to me are the jailhouse telephone calls and the family support. (not from your book) this man is where he belongs, yet he still seems to control his family. thank you for your book. I throughly enjoyed it. I don't think Alex will ever get out of prison. I loved your summation at the end and you did put a human touch on him which I had not considered before. poor sap
and I do agree his father had control of him even to murder. I think Maggie was planning divorce which is unheard of in that family. oh the shame! i could go on and on, but I truly enjoyed both volumes. thank you! i highly recommend this book to anyone.

The dry humor

loved the dry humor and accuracy of this case. I watched this entire trial when I was on medical leave for work. I am still obsessed.
