A groundbreaking book on the true nature of faith deconstruction

Alisa and Tim help the reader to deconstruct the deconstructionists and thus to respond to them, both with arguments and with love and sensitivity. This is a timely book! -- Carl Trueman, author of The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self

A movement called ‘deconstruction’ is sweeping through our churches and it is affecting our loved ones. It has disrupted, dismantled, and destroyed the faith of so many, and this book can help you not only understand what’s happening but also stand your ground and respond with clarity and confidence.

  • Maybe you have a loved one who is deconstructing their faith, and you are struggling to know how to respond;
  • Maybe you are trying to understand the radical spiritual makeover your friend or family member is going through;
  • Maybe your relationship with a loved one has been strained or even cut off because of your “toxic” Christian beliefs and you don’t know what to do;
  • Maybe you’re experiencing doubt yourself and facing hard questions about truth, God, the Bible, theology and the gospel.

Some who leave the faith feel wounded by the church. Others feel repressed by some of the moral imperatives found in Scripture. For some, it leads to a custom-made spirituality. For others, deconstructing their faith leads them away from the truth into agnosticism, atheism, the occult, or humanism.

In this seminal book, Alisa Childers, author of Another Gospel?, and Tim Barnett, creator of Red Pen Logic, will help you understand what deconstruction is, where it comes from, why it is compelling to some, and how it disorients the lives of so many. You will be able to think through the main issues around faith deconstruction and explore wise and loving ways to respond from a biblical worldview.

I loved the encouragement towards to end to not give up on your loved ones. I became suspicious when they referred to Augustine and John Calvin, but it wasn't a commercial for Calvinism... they made solid historical points. Overall, a very necessary book for those, like me, who have family members breaking away from the faith.

When they unpacked truth-seeking vs self-seeking. To me, that's the gist of what most reconstructions embrace...seld-seeking.

The morning after a troubling conversation with my son-in-law about his faith, I heard part of a CBN interview with Ms Childers. I was shocked in that I knew at that moment, she was describing exactly what had transpired the night before. I’m not sure why I’ve been so stricken by this book. Maybe because it was all the info I didn’t know in a short dose; maybe because it gave me hope; or it might simply be that I’m comforted to know I’m not alone as I watch helplessly as both my grown girls and their men deconstruct. Perhaps it’s all three. Thank You, God, for this resource. It will always be close at hand.

So Powerful!

A well balanced approach to the issues facing all of mankind and our two feet- one in the world and one in spiritual realm. Both feet are controlled by mind and worldview.

Great overview of the spiritual battle going on around us.

Exactly what we need to hear today. Done with Love and scripture. If you know someone deconstructing, or just questioning, this is a must read.

Authors do what deconstruction trendies with they wouldn’t; get inside their movement. Spoiler alert: it’s just today’s postmodern manifestation of people leaving the faith based on an elaborate, narcissistic rationalizations. They themselves turn into the evangelicals they purported to be oppressors. It’s all rather tawdry and pathetic, but clothing it in postmodern rhetoric panders to today’s university propagandized generations. It, too will pass just like the boringly similar versions before it. The authors systematically take it apart and provide ways for the faithful to deal with those captured by this most recent cult-like abandonment of Christianity.
