Cultivate the Ordinary

De: Travis and Jessie Vangsnes
  • Resumen

  • The great writer Walker Percy gifted the world with an inspiring and thought provoking line with his words: "Consciously cultivate the ordinary." So many of us today find ourselves living in a foggy and disorienting world where we are held captive to hectic schedules, polarizing news narratives, and our addiction to technology. We find ourselves continuously battling things like isolation, anxiety, fear, boredom, and apathy. What if instead of being held captive we could find ourselves captivated? Like children again, living with wonder and awe at the world around us and seeing God's presence more clearly in it. In the ordinary. This podcast seeks to help us all cultivate our ordinary better through inspiring stories, thought provoking quotes, laughter, and lively talks with normal people transforming things in the world around them. We invite you to join us on a fun journey of discovery and curiosity into the ordinary as we look for God's goodness and love through the lenses of joy, wonder, beauty, and hope. About the hosts: Travis and Jessie are passionate advocates for supporting foster care and work for the national org, America's Kids Belong. Travis is an author of two books. Jessie is an artist. They're both Enneagram/marriage coaches, soul care facilitators, and retreat owners at a property called Shiny Eyes Retreats.

  • Becoming More Aware, Resilient, and Hopeful with Jessie Vangsnes
    Jun 11 2024

In this episode, Travis interviews Jess about her journey of helping people find wholeness and healing in their lives. As an artist, Jess has a great gift of seeing possibility and beauty in places others may not. Her deep compassion and empathy for others, coupled with her hopeful and creative idealism, make her really skilled in helping people find hope in the places in their lives and stories where they've all but abandoned it.

She's a relationship coach (Marriage and Enneagram and Trauma certified) and you can learn more HERE about becoming a client.

Jess also shares about a program she created called Guided PACE. Description: It's a supportive, trauma informed, self-awareness and resilience building tool. With PACE, you will practice becoming aware of patterns, connection, then engage in your unique purpose. You can get into the driver seat of your experience and build resilience. This program can be completed individually, in coaching or within a group.

The two talk about better understanding trauma and discuss how our bodies hold stress. They talk about developing more contemplative practices to better commune with God in the everyday.
