A sweeping epic fantasy weaves together destiny and ancient magic in this masterful final novel in the beloved Five Warrior Angels trilogy by Brian Lee Durfee

In the age of belief, magic is a myth. But when an apocalyptic crusade comes to the remote border of Gul Kana, that belief is shattered, as is the tenuous peace that held the Five Isles together. Now the prophecies that were used to justify this war are unraveling, revealing a hidden agenda while the world lies in the wake of the degradations of this war.

But a slim skein of hope resides within the hidden truths, long kept secret and scattered throughout the isles—truths less reliant upon prophecy than heroism and great sacrifice.

Not everything is as it seems in this epic, long-awaited conclusion to a trilogy that Booklist raved about as “high fantasy in the vein of Stephen R. Donaldson or David Eddings, with generous helpings from George R. R. Martin.”

First off, I just wanted to say to the most popular book reviewer on YouTube, the coolest prison guard, and the author of this series, Brian Lee Durfee (AKA: B.LEE.D), that I’m glad that he has survived with his bout against pancreatitis. I hope he continues his recovery and stays in good health. Hopefully he continues on writing and finish his next novel. Live long and prosper good sir!

This review is for the entirety of the series. I love how gory the violence is, how dark some of the themes are, and the characters even when flawed they grow throughout the books. My favorite side characters in the book so far is Liz Hen, Doki and Beermug, The storytelling though is on par with George R.R. Martin, because it makes you think it is predictable when it’s actually not. There are a lot of twist and turns in this series and when things are finally revealed during the epic Fiery Absolution part, it gets intense.

Thanks for the great story. And keep doing what you doing!

Unpredictable storytelling!

This story began with so much potential. I kept waiting for the main characters to fulfill their destiny and do something great BUT the story went on and on and on with nothing substantial happening. Story keeps Suggesting magic and a great power but no one is ever able to wield this suggested power. I thought the story was supposed to be about fated characters who wield these magical weapons and stones to overcome evil. And it never happens. Petty, immature characters who make stupid mistakes. So many unanswered questions. Nail should have known his past by mid book 2. Mid book 3 still no answers. By this point, Nail should be wielding his magical weapons and fulfilling his destiny and they are still blundering around with no stone bearer positively identified. Narration is great but the story is so immature. It’s entertaining but definitely not epic fantasy
Update with 3 hours remaining…
Omg still spinning in circles
Why are they addicted to drugs but no withdrawal?
Why spend so much time on main characters who end up dead or with no purpose?
Why oh why is there never a clear explanation for the prophecy? The prophecy has literally changed with each chapter as the book progressed! It has contradicted at least 3 times smh, it’s all over the place

Narration is great, story lacking coherence

high hopes for the series coming out of book 2, nail does literally nothing in 3 books. Tala and ava get to be scumbags the entire series then play victim in the end the walking plot armor beermug shows up to save the day every 5 minutes and spades just gives up on her revenge plot for no reason... what a letdown

Tala gets to be a scumbag with zero repercussions
