Three dead. Shot point-blank. A hot summer day just got hotter.

Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Agent Doc Hunter had a golf game scheduled. Doc was a good golfer. Very good. Thinking about going pro. But now all of that had been put on hold because three people on a farm got themselves shot and Hunter's boss had decided he needed to be the one to investigate.

Doc wasn't happy about the assignment, and was even less happy when he finds there is a cover-up and a suspect list that only seems to keep growing. On top of that, he has a killer who has a lot more killing to do.

As the body count increases, the media, the sheriff, and Doc's boss all increase the pressure on Doc to stop an angry killer with a growing appetite for more blood.

Readers of John Sanford, Michael Connelly, Jeffrey Deaver, Lee Child and like authors will enjoy this fast-paced mystery.

This book was hard to follow. Many of the victims could have been projected to be killed and protected. Lots of space filled with talk about food, pretty women and sex l. Just kind of weird for a thriller.

I’m just glad this book was free to me. If I had bought it, I definitely would have returned it. The story itself was fine, but the virtual reading was awful. Every character spoke exactly the same way. No variation in tone or cadence. And the virtual reader does not understand how humans use stress on syllables to give words and phrases subtle differences in meaning, or how to read homographs (lěad vs lēad, ex.). It took me out of the story too often and made it difficult to enjoy. I will certainly never spend money on a book narrated by a virtual reader, that’s for sure!

The story was well written and could have been engaging but for the flat, monotone and halting reading of the AI narration.

Adventure that could happen anywhere. It was a very interesting story that kept you intrigued the whole time. One of the best free books ever.
