America’s national parks preserve some of the country’s most magnificent landscapes. Beyond their scenic overlooks and well-traveled paths, however, lie immense stretches of wilderness where weather changes without warning, familiar trails disappear, and a person can vanish with astonishing speed.

Strange Disappearances National Parks investigates twenty unsettling cases involving people who disappeared within America’s national parks. Some were experienced hikers prepared for difficult terrain. Others were children, travelers, or ordinary visitors separated from safety by only a few steps. Their cases involve abandoned vehicles, unexplained changes in direction, conflicting witness accounts, failed searches, and clues discovered years later.

Some of these disappearances ended with the recovery of the missing person or their remains, providing at least a partial explanation. Others remain unresolved, leaving families, investigators, and search-and-rescue teams with questions that have endured for decades.

Drawing from official records, contemporary reporting, search documentation, and updated case information, this volume distinguishes confirmed evidence from rumor while examining the most credible possibilities surrounding each case.

These are not stories of imaginary forces or manufactured legends. They are carefully researched accounts of real people whose lives intersected with some of America’s most beautiful—and unforgiving—protected landscapes.

Great stories, bad writing

Good enough book probably could use a little more detail to the stories but otherwise interesting. Just good enough and short

This is a collection of people who went missing in national parks. The locations and a brief bio of the person is given along with the efforts to find them. A few remains were found in some cases, but how they died and what happened to them is still a mystery. Very interesting. Audiobook uses virtual voice.

The book seemed to be written by AI, using the same tired phrases over and over to describe these disappearances. While the subject matter was sad and serious, it became hard to listen to.

Repetitive
