Jillian hopes she has finally found a safe haven in the Catskills, but as she looks out at the dense forest surrounding her secluded RV campground, she can't help but wonder if she's leapt from the pan into the fire. After leaving a promising career at the FBI, she's been on the run, constantly pursued by malevolent supernatural entities. Alaska and Wyoming didn't provide the sanctuary she was hoping for, but maybe upstate New York will be different.

But as Jillian tries to settle into her new life, she can't shake the feeling that something is off. It's not just the strange noises she hears at night or the eerie stillness of the forest, it's the lingering presence of something sinister. And as local young women start to go missing, Jillian suspects she may have stumbled upon a different kind of monster.

Desperate to protect herself and those around her, Jillian must use her unique ability to see the paranormal to unravel the mystery of the missing girls. But as she delves deeper into the dark underbelly of the Catskills, she realizes that she may have met her match. And if she can't stop the abductions, she may become the next victim.

Story: great. Robot voice: not so much!

Good thing the story was so awesome that I was able to get over the robot narrator. I wish they would stop already! Can't imagine that it saves that much money!

That said, this was a great book!! I loved the premise and novel twist to this genre - one of my favorites. And that's why I gave it a chance even though I knew it was AI narrated. Really glad I did! I think it's worth listening to. There's so much going on between the characters and the different events playing out all at the same time but written so well that there was no confusion and you want to root for the characters involved. There was enough horror to satisfy my twisted mind yet still well developed relationships to give drama as well. If you can get over the robot voice, you'll enjoy this.

AI voice is terrible

story is mid at best the MC is too incompetent to be an former FBI operative. over all a poor job at best

Fun series

I did not care for the AI narrator at all! As someone who listens to a lot of books on tape it was very hard to follow the story without characters coming into the voice of the narrator. I like the story, but the narration really did not work for me at all.
