Ricky Valian always dreaded the Juvenile Home in the city of Applia. Killing a member of the Council of Notables is enough to sentence him for a stay. The lord’s widow is anxious for revenge and Ricky has to scramble to stay ahead of people out seeking his life. While there are strange things going on at the Home that will put him in peril, he finds a priceless treasure long forgotten at the Home. Can he stay alive long enough to save it?

The narration was as good as the top 10 narrators

If you like the first story, you’ll like this one it was different enough from the first one and has made me want to continue the series. Narration is what it is if you don’t like it quit listening to books with virtual voice. I won’t buy books narrated by Jeff Hayes and other sound effect artist, whisperers, and screamers. In my opinion virtual voice is as good as it gets other than your personal favorite narrators. To be honest here recently I’ve had a hard time finishing books narrated by companies using annoying sound effect additions their narrators like to add into the story ruining it. I guess what I’m saying is virtual voice has no artistic license to ruin a story. It is what it is and I don’t think it hurts a well written book at all.

I don’t know what happened from the first AI version of narration to this on, shoot maybe I got used to it… nah it was definitely much smoother. Made the character a lot more personable than the last book. This story line is growing on me and even though there is a lot of dark abuse and severe beatings in this novels… ‘not sure what the authors youth was like’. Probly a very religious up bringing. There was also laugh out loud moments and a lot of heart. There was one big flaw in this story that kept going through my head through the second half of the book and I won’t give it away, but I will say the this main character had the abilities and I say plural because he is undoubtedly talented to turn the tide in this quickly. I guess I am saying that there wasn’t an equal amount of power to oppose him except for being kid, that made his reasoning and extensive planning reasonable. That being said I really liked this book. Thank god this kid isn’t a sociopath or shoot we all would be dead lol.
Worth it! On to the next.
