In a world where prophecy is real and magic comes with a price, two orphaned twins are about to discover they were never ordinary.
Adam and Charity have spent their lives at the bottom of the barrel in a sleepy village—poor, parentless, and constant targets for the mayor’s spoiled son. But when an ancient wizard reveals they are the Promised Ones, heirs to the legendary Philosopher King Labad, everything changes.
Armed with a sword and bow forged of pure spirit-power, the twins are thrust into a brewing storm: a dark sorcerer named Gilgafed hungers to tear the empire apart, fanatical priests preach bloody crusades against magic, and war erupts between proud city-states. To survive, Adam and Charity must master their awakening gifts, outrun trolls, ogres, and assassins, and decide if destiny is a crown… or a noose.
From humble village fairs to battle-scarred highways, from hidden dwarf holds to the palaces of scheming lords, The Promised Ones is the epic first volume of the Milward Chronicles—a classic tale of courage, loyalty, and two kids who just might save the world… if it doesn’t break them first.

If someone’s bookshelf still has worn paperbacks of Eddings, Feist, Brooks, or early Goodkind, and they sigh wistfully for the days when epic fantasy meant massive journeys, talking weapons, evil sorcerers in black robes, and two kids who just might save the world… this is their next obsession.

I like the story line, but I hate the virtual voice, it leaves the characters sounding flat and without emotions. I had to keep rereading passages in my mind as to how they should have been read.
I don’t think I can continue on with this story unless it’s read by real people.
