These are the stories of my life, as I remember them, which is getting more difficult these days.

I went from being a mischievous kid in Tacoma, to sailing on a Navy aircraft carrier around Asia at the beginnings of the Vietnam War, to a career in foodservice, and raising a family in Bellevue. There are a lot of stories in between.

Here’s a sample of what’s inside:

The Painter Twins: “When we were about four years old, Larry and I found a bucket of paint near the back of the neighbor’s garage where they had been painting the garage. No one was around so we decided their car needed painting too, and we proceeded to do so.”

My First Car: “I bought my first car when I was a junior in high school using the money, I earned working at Rich’s Drive-In. It was a '47 Ford Club Coupe. I fixed it up with moon hubcaps, painted it Sierra Gold, frenched the headlights, and tunneled the taillights. I was the envy of my classmates.”

The Love of My Life: “I first met Loris at school when she was a freshman, and I was a junior. She was 14. I was 16. I still remember the first time I saw her. She was standing in the hallway with her girlfriend. She was wearing a black and red checkered skirt and a short-sleeved dark grey sweater with white trim. I remember asking my friend who she was and if she had a boyfriend. When I found out she had just broken off with Leonard Jensen, I asked her out on a date.”

I enjoyed retelling these stories. I hope you enjoy reading them.
