The bleakly beautiful Norfolk coast, the murder of a local businessman, a suffragette on trial... Sounds like a case for Posie Parker!

Valentine’s Day, 1926.

When Posie Parker, Private Detective, accidentally runs into an old family acquaintance in the Temple Church, London, she is persuaded to leave town immediately and return to the place of her childhood roots—the beautiful Norfolk coast—to investigate a closed-room murder mystery which local police believe has a foregone conclusion.

But have the police got the suspect right? Posie must race against the clock as a Murder Trial is scheduled to begin in just two days’ time.

A women’s right’s activist, the courageous Girvan Briskow, will almost certainly face the gallows if she is convicted of her wealthy father-in-law’s murder. Both the murder victim and the chief suspect are already known to Posie from years before, but Posie needs to push aside old hostilities in order to get at the truth. But is the truth too much, and too dark, for her to bear?

And is she just imagining it, or is Posie’s presence resented in Norfolk? Is she in danger, here? And why has Richard Lovelace, Posie’s husband and the Chief Commissioner of New Scotland Yard, started acting strangely?

A darkly gripping historical murder mystery, which fans of Agatha Christie, T. E. Kinsey, Nicola Upson, Lee Strauss and Verity Bright will adore!

Posie goes back where she grew up where memories and murder show up. A good rounded mystery Just sad this is the last one so far!!

Excellent narration and telling of Posey’s past, at least some as related to her first fiancé Harry, her father, and her brother relationships.

This series has always been told with a touch of morbid, so is a mixed cozy and suspenseful series. Other books in the series have been written in a similar style, i.e. Death in Venice had her losing another fiancé and the nasty circumstances of his affair with another woman there.

I look forward to getting the full story of her mother and her missing friend. There was a partial telling in a previous book, but I think her mother is alive.

As sure as bread is bread this is the best yet! Love this series and can’t wait for the next!!!

The Best Yet!!!

This book goes into some dark areas of Posie's distant past. It was dark. I enjoyed the book, but there were a couple of loose ends that didn't get tied up that concern me for future adventures for Posie. I enjoyed it but was left with some concern for the fictional gal, and what might befall her in future installments.

Though I am amused at how naïve she always is, but still puts everything together in the end. Overall it's a good story, but I need more closure on the "current" stressors she is under and now I will have to worry about it until whenever the next book is ready.

It was nice to get some closure for Posie

Perhaps I’m just bored with the series. This one could not keep my attention. All others in the series had a little spark of humor at times. This one was just dark and somewhat depressing.

Boring
