Not a day has gone by that Michael Whitman hasn’t thought about his ten-year-old daughter, Katie, disappearing from an amusement park in their small Midwest city. One moment she was there, waiting on a bench, and then she was gone, shattering Michael’s life.

Now it is seven years later and it seems as if everyone has moved past Katie’s disappearance...except for Michael. Estranged from the rest of his family, he still holds onto the guilt of losing Katie and the hope that she might still be alive. And so when Michael receives an impossible text message involving his missing daughter, his life changes drastically for the second time.

Desperate to protect his family from the dangerous men who threaten them, Michael is about to learn the lengths that a father will go to save the people he loves...and what he is willing to sacrifice.

I couldn't turn it off

It kept my interest throughout. I wouldn't say it's an "on the edge of your seat" but it's close.

AI narration is a total bust

I don’t want to be too critical, but the story starts off stating it’s narrated by AI which, even if it didn’t, you’d be able to guess throughout the story. The storyline is actually decent, but the narration lacks the proper emotion or hesitations needed in a storyline. It can’t decipher between, excitement versus yelling versus cruelty. However, I will say I’ve heard worse with some humans narrating. lol.. I’d rather listen to this guy than someone that’s reading like their voice is on a roller coaster.

The bravery of the father

The ending could have been better I absolutely didn’t like the way it ended. The author could have used resources available to get his daughter back

Very boring at times. Written better than most. No big twists. Didn’t love the end.

AI voice ruined it

Could have been an ok book but the virtual voice was just awful. Is this what we are going to have to listen to now. I couldn’t stand the mispronunciation and the robot voice. No emotions and the dialog sounds ridiculous. Like the worst actor was saying lines. Please don’t do this Audible.
