Running away to the beach sounds like a good idea, but is it? Pickles is living the dream but the darker side of the dream is a nightmare. His mother is killed and Pickles is running for his life. Razor, the psycho with a boxcutter in his boot, is after him. Pickles is forced to go to ground with Fat Jake, his mom's ex-boyfriend who steals motorcycles for a living. Fat Jake splits and Pickles hits the highway dodging child predators, drug addicts, thieves and cops. The beach is a great vacation place for a teen but a dangerous place if you are thirteen and on your own. It is deadly, more deadly than reading about vampires, zombies or werewolves because at the beach the monsters are real.
