When Damien Wishart emerged from his oxygen tent everyone was dead, and he was left to pick up the pieces. When he found a woman alive that meant that he had someone to talk to. When he found three children alive, life changed. Life took on a whole new meaning when they found Vicky. Damien and Vicky became an item and things were good until a meteor hit the Earth. They knew that it was coming as the children had seen it through their telescopes. It hit water but they still had to live through the tsunami that followed. Life returned to normal but life and nature had a lot more to throw at Damien... Genre Fiction Literary Fiction

Did not like the AI generated voice reading. I did not know before listening that the voice was AI generated but it didn’t take long to figure out. It’s awful and takes a lot away from the story.

I don't enjoy most post-apocalyptic fiction. But this book is so extraordinary that I'm writing this (my 100+ review over almost 20 years) to note that it has a deceptively deadpan delivery (almost a procedural, like the Martian) that rolls out a borderline dissociative, fun, original book. I virtually never outright recommend a book because tastes are so different--but if you can strap in and hold on, it is just a revelation. And ps......several of this author's other books are also just as original and fun. (It all reminds me of another indie Sci-Fi author--David Collins.)
