These days, he's mostly trying to enjoy his vacation. He has a beautiful wife. He has a charming five-month-old daughter named Rose. He has a bowl of apples and a comfortable settee on his sister's terrace.

According to the disembodied voice now emanating from baby Rose, Destiny has decided to take a more "proactive role" in the world's affairs. The fragile peace is collapsing. A strange woman with a book has just appeared in the orchard, crossed out the word "maiden" next to Sarah's name, and announced that everyone is in the wrong place.

Everett would prefer to be eating pie.

But the world doesn't seem inclined to leave him alone, his spells have started behaving even more erratically than usual, and Sarah is busy choosing yarn colors for matching family sweaters. With a baby, a reluctant band of companions, and a magical arsenal that includes summoning beautiful women and turning manure into piles, Everett sets off to once again save a world that really should have learned to save itself by now.
