Roth remained strong

Beautiful writing, humorous and without fear. Roth improved with age. His descriptions of academics were amusing and painful. The narrator was excellent.

Brutal Irony

At first it just felt like a normal depressing Phillip Roth book, but the secrets and the incredible irony of the whole situation made it feel more like Bonfire of the Vanities. This is my favorite Roth novel.

Incredible story told so well. The way Roth moves you thru the story is remarkable. The narrator is wonderful as well. A must read!

Roth's singular voice

Roth's writing requires multiple readings to grasp the brilliance, the depth of his prose. I look forward to reading it again
