This title uses virtual voice narration

Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.

Living in the shadows isn’t the safest place to be… it’s where secrets are buried and predators lurk..

As the youngest child living within a dysfunctional family, I thought that anger, rivalry and hatred were the norm, that every family possessed dirty little secrets they hid from the world… like alcohol and drug addiction, mental and physical abuse, depression, schizophrenia and suicide. Surviving those dirty little secrets while running from the school bully was hard, but it was nothing in comparison to coming up on the radar of the neighbourhood paedophile.

this young lady went through many different trials and tribulations. the fact that she never let life defeat her and remained a good human being is so praiseworthy. through all the betrayals she still managed to push forward showing true strength. I loved that she got closure those who wronged her. I hope she found the peace and love that she deserves. all of that being said this Memoir deserved more than virtual voice but five stars on everything else.

I read a lot of memoirs or rather I listen to a lot of of them. I live how the story takes you back and forth thru the author and her mother’s history. I also appreciate it when the author doesn’t only take a victim “poor me” POV, even when they I have gone through hell. Audible plus to save money and a lot of times the memoirs that are included with membership are narrated with virtual voice. The effectiveness of the virtual narration is hit or miss. Regardless, there’s always a few glitches and strange pronunciations with the virtual voice.

Heartfelt and honest story worth reading

Literally put me to sleep. Can't believe I actually listened to almost 4 hours of this before I just couldn't anymore!
