SIX FEET UNDER

Amos Carver is just enjoying some R&R when people try to murder him in his sleep.

The key word is try. Because Carver doesn't let his guard down. Not even when he's living the tranquil life in a beach house.

It turns out these people might have kidnapped or killed a former squad mate of his. A man named Cliff Barrows. And Carver wants to know why. More than that, he wants to teach them a lesson.

Barrows saved Carver on more than one occasion. That means Carver owes him. Owes him big time. And even if he didn't, Carver still adheres to a simple code. Leave no brother behind.

Carver knows the people after him are just thugs. Small pieces in a bigger puzzle. So, he embarks on a cross-country journey to find out the truth. To find out what Barrows was doing. To find out where Barrows went. And to find out if Barrows was still alive.

But the people behind his disappearance might be more dangerous than Carver anticipated. They might be part of a larger group. A group with friends in all the right places. And if Carver isn't careful, he might end up like Barrows.

He might end up dead and buried.

i’m very happy with this book series. It’s a very good listen and very good writing and also give john‘s other book series a try. I think you’ll enjoy them.

Guns, spies, and killlling

This series is really good and definitely a hidden gem. This installment is interesting and entertaining as the main character is being hunted by an Antifa-type organization.

Better than the last 6 or more Reacher books

Ever get the feeling a book was written by AI?

Ever wonder why a narrator would completely change the voice of an established character?

Ever feel like some of the characters are so cartoonishly absurd that even the author couldn't possibly find them believable?

Ever get the sense that an author wasn't smart enough to realize that real-life political bogeymen don't actually so he made them the antagonists of his story in a way that would be laughable if it wasn't so sad?

This book isn't great. It doesn't feel real. It doesn't even feel like real writing most of the time. While Carver's escapades in the first two books are a little wild, this book, and especially the mother/daughter introduced, is just a little much. And changing the voice of a youngish former running buddy of Carver's into an old Southern man is a peculiar choice to say the least.

The story moves along well enough to keep going, I guess, but if the fourth book is as bad as the third, that might be the last for me.

Major step down from the first two books
