A god fighting his fate. A prince burdened with secrets. And a romance that could end in flames.

Apollo is a deity… almost. Half mortal and refusing to take his position as god of the sun, he spends his nights drowning out haunting memories and his days avoiding responsibilities. Until his father forces him into an ultimatum: Ascend immediately. Or spend the year mentoring under the obnoxious Prince Hyacinth.

Forced together, Apollo and Hyacinth grapple with their mutual disdain for each other.

But what starts as a kindling of irritation begins to burn into something new. A spark that, if it turns to flame, could incinerate everything they’ve always protected.

A reimagining of the Greek myth of Apollo and Prince Hyacinth, this NA, enemies-to-lovers fantasy series is a whirlwind journey full of romance, intrigue, and enthralling characters.

NOTE: This book is the first in a NA Fantasy series that features mature situations, adult language, and romances that lead to moderate steam as the series progresses.

I loved this book so much. From the first chapter, A Veil of Gods and Kings completely swept me away into a world of divine power, ancient duty, and unforgettable romance. Nicole Bailey takes the familiar figures of Apollo and Hyacinth and breathes new life into them, turning mythology into something tender, real, and deeply emotional.

The slow-burn romance between Apollo and Hyacinth was absolutely beautiful. It felt genuine, earned, and incredibly moving. Their connection built with every scene—full of longing, tension, and soft, intimate moments that made my heart ache in the best way. I couldn’t stop turning the pages just to see them fall even more in love.

Beyond the romance, the story’s blend of mythology, political intrigue, and personal discovery gave the book so much depth. Apollo’s internal struggles, Hyacinth’s bravery, and the way their fates intertwined kept me hooked from start to finish. Nicole Bailey’s writing is poetic without being overwhelming—just the right balance of lyrical and accessible.

If you love Greek mythology, slow-burn queer romance, and stories that stay with you long after the final page, I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s easily one of my favorite reads and I already can’t wait to dive into the next one in the series.

The romance between Apollo and Hyacinth !!!

This book makes you laugh and makes you cry. It's truly an emotional rollercoaster. I cannot wait for the rest of the series to be available on audible. I am literally giddy with anticipation.

Captivating

I cringed... a lot at the inaccuracy of the Greek mythology, but there is no rule about rewriting a fictional character of course. it was hard to focus on 3 different povs, but I think that was on my part. I was more interested in the romance and interactions between Apollo and Hyacinth, not Epiphany and her story. It was well written and I enjoyed the audio version immensely.

Audio was great!

Enemies to lovers set in greek mythology with Apollo and Hyacinth as protagonists. Their interactions of them and those around build a fantastic foundation for the series

A must read
