Great story narrated without the usual emotion or nuanced and distinct character portrayals. I’d like this story much more if read by a human voice.

This story finally got going.

There was a lot of world building, no, more like "getting to know the characters" in book one, and to be honest, not much action, so I almost didn't continue the series, but I am doing a buddy read with my husband, and he really wanted to continue, so I did. And I am SO glad I did. This series is FANTASTIC! This author really did her research for intertwining the historical aspects of this series with the fantasy. I was on the edge of my seat once this book got going. More action, more suspense, more everything. Off to read book 3 to find out the conclusion of this series. 5 stars
