Emma D'Arcy
Fair Play is a poignant portrayal of the intricacies of love and work through the lens of two women, both accomplished artists, whose intimate relationship defied societal norms.
Set against the backdrop of Helsinki and summers on their remote island paradise, Jansson weaves together the nuanced details of the women's creative lives, offering a rich tapestry of their daily routines, artistic process, and innermost thoughts.
Through the lens of their unique relationship, we witness a true example of progressive love, where generosity and respect are key to a beautiful and thriving partnership.

Initially, I only read this because it was read by Emma, who does such a lovely job, but I was happy to find the story itself was also engaging. A quick and pleasant listen.
I could listen to Emma D’Arcy all day

But the narrator enunciates each word in such a forceful way, it makes the book so stressful to listen to, unless I'm in a really good and forgiving mood. All the characters are always shouting their dialogs. On a normal day, I find this narration too tiring to listen to and have to turn it off after a few sentences. The way she reads it is seriously annoying. It's such a short book but I can't wait for it to be over. I would have returned it if I hadn't bought it with cash instead of credit. I wish they found someone with a more calming and soothing voice. This would have been a peaceful and romantic book, like The Summer Book.
Poor narration
