Shining Smith stands on the brink of achieving her goals, and yet now she could lose everything.

The presidents of four motorcycle clubs are coming to claim blood sacrifice and to ink her with motorcycle club tats. Her new roadhouse and its charter have to meet their approval or the roadhouse has no future, and neither does Shining.

An injured kid shows up at Smith’s Junk and Scrap, but collapses before he can speak.

A note arrives containing a warning and a plea for help, addressed by someone who knows Shining’s most intimate secrets—her history, her plans, and the names of her friends. The sender claims his daughter has been kidnapped by Shining’s enemies. To keep her secrets, he wants Shining to get his daughter back.

In order to rescue the hostage and keep her junkyard, her roadhouse, her people, and the cats alive, Shining Smith will have to suffer, fight, and bargain her way out of danger. All without accidently transitioning anyone—creating an accidental thrall—no matter how much her nanobots want her to.

About the Creator

Faith Hunter is the award-winning New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of three series: the Jane Yellowrock series, the Soulwood series, and the Rogue Mage series (all available on Audible). In addition, she has edited two anthologies set in the RM world and coauthored the Rogue Mage RPG. She is the coauthor and author of 16 thrillers under pen names Gary Hunter and Gwen Hunter. She sold her first book in 1989 and hasn’t stopped writing since. Altogether, she has 40+ books and dozens of short stories in print and is always juggling multiple projects. Faith collects orchids and animal skulls, loves thunderstorms, and writes. She likes to cook soup, bake bread, garden, and kayak Class III whitewater rivers. She makes jewelry and drinks a lot of tea. Some days she’s a lady. Some days she ain't.

About the Performer

Khristine Hvam is an award-winning audiobook narrator, producer, and director. Some of her works include TV/radio commercials, video games, animated series, and most notably, more than 300 audiobook titles. Hvam has been honored with four Audio Publishers Association Audie Awards. AudioFile Magazine has awarded her seven of its Earphones Awards, as well as Best Voices of the Year 2015 and 2017. I’m not really a Science Fiction war type reader but the narrator and the directness of the authors story telling and the storyline keeps me coming back for every new book. Definitely a must read.

I love how each decision has consequences. Shining grows and battles herself with hints of problems to come. Another great installment.

Faith Hunter has elevated Shining Smith to the same level as Jane Yellowrock and Nell Mickleson from the Yellowrock and soulwood series. She has developed complex characters with intricate plot lines leaving it hard to put the book down. I primarily listen via Audible and find Khristine Hvam a consumate artist provided great characterization to each character. True talent as Jane's voice is different from Nel's voice and different from Shining. Sadlyn I believe both Yellowrock and Soulwood series have ended. I am truly looking forward to the next Junkyard series and Tea with Faith.

I loved everything about this edition to the Shining Smith story. The only thing I don’t like is I have to wait for the next one. Please make it quick, love anything Faith Hunter creates
