People you shouldn’t fall in love with:

  • Your best friend’s sister.
  • Your best friend’s pregnant sister.
  • Your best friend’s sister after you deliver her baby.
  • Your best friend’s sister when she’s an exhausted, overwhelmed new mother who has to deal with her crazy baby daddy and meddling townspeople

But rules were meant to be broken.

Full moons and fate have a way of pushing people together when they least expect it.

When Beth Hale called 911 when she was in labor, the last person she thought would show up was her brother’s best friend.

Now, he’s the only person she trusts.

Former Navy SEAL Shane Hutchins has demons of his own. Reinventing himself as a small town paramedic was supposed to be his atonement for the things he had done. Falling in love with a single mom wasn’t in his plan, but now he’d do anything for her and the baby girl he calls “his.”

Even if it means putting his life on the line.

What Saves Us is book #3 in the Falls Creek series. This story has it all...it is funny, heartwarming, heartbreaking, suspenseful, spicy in a slow burny kind of way and binge-worthy! Beth is pregnant by her professor (didn't know he was married) and is doing the whole pregnancy thing on her own. Shane is her brother's best friend and has been in love with Beth since he laid eyes on her (a year ago). She has trust issues with men now and is dealing with postpartum depression. He has PTSD from being a former Navy Seal sniper, is sober from an alcohol addiction, and is the paramedic who comes to her 911 call and delivers her baby! I love all the "Creekers" in this series...the ladies who rate the hot first responders as they work out, the ladies auxiliary that works behind the scenes to play matchmaker.
I absolutely loved it.

The narration was phenomenal. Sebastian York and Emma Wilder are the perfect broody Shane and hormonal Beth. He's the yin to her yang! 5 heartfelt stars!!

The narrators did an amazing job with this one! I loved the relationship that Shane had with Beth’s little baby . I loved the way he made a safe space for both Beth and her child and i think this one was my favorite out of all three interconnected books

My favorite mmc out of all three books!

Narration Style: Dual

Accidental pregnancy but he’s not the dad? Say less. There’s just something about the trope that always gets me.

Shane, his backstory and what he’d been dealing with, it was heartbreaking to hear. And Beth was battling her own demons after giving birth to her daughter.

The two of them had such a strong connection, but they didn’t just jump into a relationship. It was a slow burn. But they needed time, and Shane was so gentle, patient, and loving despite the things that haunted him.

There was angst, tension, some suspense, and so many emotions. But there was also so much love and healing for the characters.

Angsty

This audiobook completely took me by surprise in the best way. What Saves Us is raw, real, and filled with so much heart. The story follows Beth, a woman trying to rebuild her life as a single mom after a painful betrayal, and Shane, a former special ops soldier haunted by loss. Both characters are carrying deep emotional wounds, but watching them come together with tenderness, trust, and quiet strength was incredibly moving.

Emma Wilder and Sebastian York were phenomenal in this. Emma became Beth, you could hear the exhaustion, the heartbreak, the determination in every line. And Sebastian brought Shane to life with a perfect mix of protective calm and vulnerability. Their chemistry? Effortless. This is dual narration done right.

This story doesn’t shy away from tough topics… postpartum depression, trauma, toxic exes but it handles them with care and honesty. It made me tear up more than once, and I couldn’t stop listening.

If you’re looking for an emotional small-town romance with stunning narration and a story that feels real, don’t skip this one. Easily one of my favorites in the Falls Creek series.
