enjoyable overall

I enjoyed the entire series and would recommend it overall. I do take one exception with this final book tho, how are we to buy into a famine for a seaside nation...go fishing for crying out loud!

Plot twists and political intrigue at its finest

This must be the fastest paced book in The Bridge Kingdom series, with as many plot twists as there could be. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Ahnna better, even if at some points, I’ve found her too naive (I believe Lara will remain my favorite, as morally grey as she is). I’m so looking forward to reading the final book because the stakes are higher than ever.

This series does not get near enough hype. All the books are so good. Looking forward to the last book. Sad it will be the last one!

p e r f e c t i o n ✨️

When I saw that book six of the Bridge Kingdom series had dropped on Audible, I immediately ran to read The Twisted Throne, which I had been putting off. After devouring the first four books, I knew better than to start the next one unless I was ready — because Danielle L. Jensen has a knack for ending her books in the most maddening, addictive way possible. You always need the next one right away.

This series is interconnected, with each book picking up exactly where the previous one left off. The Twisted Throne begins in the aftermath of Maridrina’s attack, which has left the people of Ithicana impoverished and broken. Ahnna, Princess of Ithicana, has always lived to serve her people — whether tending to the wounded or leading on the battlefield. Now, riddled with guilt over the suffering of her nation, she’s ready to fulfill an age-old treaty: to marry the Crown Prince of Harendell in hopes that their alliance will bring salvation to Ithicana.

Easy enough, right?

Of course not. Not when it comes to Ahnna — strong-willed, sharp-tongued, and unyielding — and certainly not when her intended is described as pompish and spoiled.

When I tell you I was unprepared for all the twisty, winding turns, this book took me down - goodness! I read it in two days, completely consumed.

Our male main character, Prince James, is (plot twist!) the half-brother of Ahnna’s intended - and somehow, that makes everything even better.

Like the previous books, The Twisted Throne is told in dual POV, giving us a deep understanding of everyone’s motivations and the secrets they carry. The story is packed with scheming, betrayal, and tension so thick it practically vibrates. I was glued to my phone - you would’ve had to surgically remove it from my hands.

The forbidden romance and banter between Ahnna and James added the perfect emotional layer to all the political intrigue. There’s just so much happening at all times - and yet, Danielle manages to balance the action, angst, and tension beautifully. The pacing is immaculate.

As any good book should, the true unraveling comes near the end - and let me tell you, I was gagged. Just when I thought I knew what was coming, there was still so much story and shock factor left. Nothing felt rushed or crammed in; it was the perfect blend of heart-pounding suspense and those tender, intimate moments that make the chaos worth it.

I was completely invested from start to finish.
And yes - I’ll be immediately continuing with the next one immediately.
