Awesome summoner story

The first chapter was very slow. After the first chapter story moved, great lead character, the storyline was good and followed a good direction. I couldn’t wait for the next chapter. I recommend this book highly.

School, Magic & Monsters

I was captivated by this story from the opening paragraphs until the end. I admired the worldbuilding and the various creatures which populated this world. I liked the engaging and fun characters. I was amazed at the details in the battle scenes and often felt like I could actually see the battle itself. I found the game character statistics report amusing. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I thought Christopher Harbour's narration was amazing. I enjoyed the various voices that Christoper performed for the different characters. His performance added to my enjoyment of the whole story. I was gifted a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which included my honest opinions regarding this tale.

T his was fun!

This was an unusual experience, but I loved it. Danny has an unusual and potentially dangerous ability, making him the object of much gossip and fear from both the faculty and students alike. However, his dad has drilled into him from a young age the importance of serving in their mage group, for the good of the kingdom. This makes him push through, in the best, innocent way possible. It earns him Allies and enemies. Quite enjoyed this book and recommend.

Please note, I’ll be returning and listening with my kids this summer once we finish our current book together as they are going to love it too!

Mystery Novel beware

Its a good book but it is misleading in what it is. More of a mystery novel then a progression novel, there is some elements of progression, but its more of a your to young to know stuff so don't look into it but hey still help us out, with out us giving you details from the adults. Narration is top notch, cover art is sweet, Just not really my cup of tea when the MC is held back so much.
Overall its a good listen but not what i thought it would be.

Kinda lame, but not the worst

I’m not a huge fan of the system not being an independent element separate from any persons control. It’s literally decided whether or not you can become a mage by a council of people. Frankly, I’m kind of confused about the scope of the system and how it came to be, the extent of control these people have over it, and how this system hasn’t been exploited into oblivion.

Also, with the huge build up to finding a solution to the problem at the end of the book, I was expecting something a little more creative of an answer. Hopefully this isn’t too much of a spoiler but the solution was the equivalent of an adult saying to a kid “because I said so.” Like a said: kinda lame.

Most of the book was pretty decent, but the ending fell flat for me.
