Detroit Tigers secured a hard-fought victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Monday night at Comerica Park, winning 1-0. The game was a tight pitching duel, highlighted by a stellar performance from starter Keider Montero, who pitched 6.1 innings without allowing a run, giving up just three hits and striking out four. Tyler Holton picked up the win with 1.2 innings of no-hit relief, while Shelby Miller earned his first save. The lone run of the game came in the 8th inning when Jake Rogers scored on a fielding error by Guardians' shortstop Brayan Rocchio after a grounder by Mark Canha. Wenceel Perez led the Tigers offensively, going 2-for-4. The Guardians' starter Gavin Williams also impressed, pitching 5.1 scoreless innings, but it was not enough as the Tigers' pitching staff managed to shut down the Guardians' bats completely, allowing just three hits overall. With this victory, the Tigers look to build momentum heading into their next series.
