Blake

Formula 1 has been my dream ever since I saw my first race and was captivated by a driver with pride shining in his green eyes as he held his trophy high.

Eight years later, I got my chance to make it a reality. It's a dream come true, except...

The same driver who ignited my love for racing, who I idolized through my youth, and whose posters currently line my bedroom walls... is my new teammate.

Ryder

My father once dominated the grid, but now I carry the weight of his legacy on my shoulders.

After a rough season threatens to bury the King name, I'm back with a fresh team under new ownership and more determined than ever to take back what's mine.

I want nothing more than to keep my father's legacy alive and reclaim my title.

Until she came in... and everything I thought was most important to me changed.

My thoughts:

So, I did things a little backwards. I started with an ARC for the second book in this interconnected standalone series, “Jump Start” last year and absolutely loved it! I met Blake and Ryder in that book (as well as Lawson and Sydney) and knew I couldn’t wait to get their full story. I am here to say that I was NOT disappointed!!

Blake is a 20-year-old American racer who’s dream is to race Formula 1! She gets the opportunity of a lifetime when she is recruited by Nikolai (my sweet baby) to join the Nightingale team in London driving alongside her long-time celebrity crush, Ryder King. Ryder, the 28-year-old World Champion, is battling his own demons after an accident took him out of racing for a season and a half. Ryder is immediately taken by Blake and their Slow Burn romance is so much fun to experience.

I really enjoyed getting to know the characters I was introduced to in passing in “Jump Start”. Sarah McEwan and Ethan Kelly do a great job bringing these characters to life! Sarah nails the young spunky side of Blake while also making her a strong and fierce woman in a man’s world.

Ethan did an amazing job bringing Ryder to life. I was fully expecting Ryder to be this cocky playboy with an outgoing attitude like in book 2, but Ethan really made me feel for Ryder. The emotion that he brought out when talking about his love for Blake or his personal struggles and insecurities were so great! They really pulled me in. Also… the accents! Ethan did a British, Scottish, Irish, French, slight Russian, and American accents beautiful! We all know I am a sucker for an accent.

Overall, this book was a ton of fun and really made me love the characters I had previously met even more! I cannot wait for book 3 to get to know my Grumpy King, Lawson, and his ball of sunshine, Sydney, even more!!

This series is a ton of fun!

If you love a slow burn sports romance with some humor, give this one a shot!
