Eager to get Saira back on top of the charts, her publisher has given her an ultimatum—write a chart-topping holiday romance or be dropped from the publishing house. There’s only one problem: Saira strongly opposes penning holiday books. To her, they are cliché and off-brand, but with her career on the line, she’s forced to give it a shot. To capture the spirit of the holidays, she books a vacation in the most “Christmassy” town she can find.

Sharing the other side of her rented duplex is the owner, Dorian Black, a volunteer firefighter, and the town’s little league football coach. Years ago, Dorian was happily married to the love of his life until cancer took her away from him.

It’s nothing like a sappy romance novel set during the Christmas holiday! Mr. December is amazing! Oooohhh and a bit steamy too! Great read!

Choosing Yourself is the Real Christmas Gift

A Christmas romance written with care, warmth, and a clear celebration of Black love will always be a win for me. This story was very cute and heartfelt. Before you continue with the rest of this review, I want to share that while I do not reveal any major spoilers, I do highlight the ending plot. If you prefer to discover that on your own, please stop reading here. Otherwise, know that this is a wonderful Christmas read.

I really enjoyed this book. There were a few moments when the pacing felt a little slow because the author can be overly descriptive, but it was still a very good read. She successfully evoked a strong emotion within me. That emotion was the reminder to never settle.

I appreciate how the main character chose herself. She refused to settle for being excluded. Dorian was a good man, but he was not doing what he was supposed to do to make her feel special and included in his life from a vulnerability and emotional perspective. Her choosing herself was a powerful moment and a meaningful message. It is a reminder that choosing self is essential. When you choose yourself, the stars will align accordingly.

Hallmark worthy

This was a cute story I loved hoe there was no expectations and just by chance inspiration turned into real love and I love that for both characters

It was really adorable. Wasn’t a fan of the random yet deliberate insert of “damn” as an emphasizer. Otherwise…really enjoyed this story
