The islanders on Rylly Barr’s Haunted Island are celebrating. Their new homes are finished. The picnic has all the fixings, fried chicken, corn on the cob and lethal potato salad.
Kohler and Tommy find Tommy’s father, dead, killed when someone drops a heavy bowl of potato salad on his head. Tommy is falsely accused by an overzealous cop, the first hurricane of the season puts the M.E.’s van in Rylly’s favorite Oak tree and a tornado not only takes out the only bridge to the mainland, it cuts off Rylly’s island leaving everyone stranded on the island with a ruthless killer.
Rylly can’t help getting angry. Since being angry makes you stupid and Rylly doesn’t do stupid, she decides it’s time to do her own investigation but can she keep Tommy from being arrested, get the M. E.’s van out of the tree and keep the murderer from making an end of her.
