Will Not Listen To Another

The main character, theoretically a former advertising star, continually lets everyone tell her what to do and push her around. The police chief also lets her mother tell her how to run the investigation and who to arrest. It grated on my nerves.
The narrator had a pleasant voice but all the characters sounded the same.
