Nuclear war would be the war to end all wars. This is how the world ends. But …The real battle for survival was just beginning.

No one is immune from the horror of a war of extinction.

The living will envy the dead.

International bestselling author, Bobby Akart, one of America's favorite storytellers, delivers up-all-night thrillers to over two million readers in 245 countries and territories worldwide.

Aftermath, book one in the Nuclear War series, delves into a chilling look where the pinnacle of human innovation turns into mankind’s greatest nightmare.

President John F. Kennedy once said, “Mankind must put an end to war or war will put an end to mankind.” Today, a new element has been introduced to the preparations—artificial intelligence. The United States, in its quest to rapidly and effectively defend the nation from a nuclear attack, has incorporated AI into its operation plan of response. But what if the artificial intelligence relied upon by the nation’s decision-makers is wrong? What if AI takes the controls of America’s nuclear response? Might it trigger nuclear war without justification? “There’s no such thing as a small nuclear war.”

When a series of unforeseen events trigger a cascade of errors in the AI algorithms, the delicate balance between geopolitical foes is shattered. In less than an hour, nuclear warheads begin to detonate across the Northern Hemisphere from the Far East to Russia to Europe to the United States. The aftermath yields the expected result. The gates of hell have been thrust open and ordinary citizens pay the price as they discover nuclear war may kill millions but the aftermath, nuclear winter, will kill billions.

Aftermath is a gripping technothriller that explores the dangers of unchecked technological advancement and the profound implications of placing too much reliance on artificial intelligence. It prompts the listener to ask, “With AI, are we summoning the demon and giving it control?”

Have you ever read a series of books and thought they're filling it up with words to make it into a series? This is the poster child for that concept. Also the MAGA shows through right down to "Gelf of America". This should be a trump fan favorite. Really the last chapters of book one and book 2 are relevant. Most of book one is about daily normal life of the family. The same character building could have easily been done in two chapters.

Book 1 and 2 could be 1 book. MAGA author

I bought this right away because Bobby always takes you on a wild ride. book 1 was pretty calm as you get to know the characters and what brought on the attack but I know book 2 is going to be WILD and I cant wait.

I can't wait for book 2!

I think the story was good and I might have enjoyed it better with a different narrator. I felt he was reading too fast and he wasn’t ably to connect me with the characters.

Story was ok….

i like that the author chose to insert contemporary events into this book, and the characters are pretty believable.

having said that I was surprised (and dismayed ) to discover like 80% of the book is character development, mostly about crab fishing. The last part where the war starts is good though.
