About the Creator

Scott Bartlett writes books from inside a mech, which is inside the hangar bay of a light armored cruiser stationed just past Jupiter.
Certain parts of the last sentence may not be completely true. Here are some more believable statements:
Scott was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, the easternmost province of Canada. During his decade-long journey to become a full-time author, he supported himself by working an assortment of jobs…salmon hatchery technician, grocery clerk, youth care worker, ghostwriter, research assistant, pita maker, and freelance editor.
In 2014, he succeeded in becoming a full-time novelist, and he’s been writing science fiction at light speed ever since.

About the Performer

Mark Boyett has narrated 325 titles and counting in every genre, garnering an Audie Award for In Harm’s Way by Doug Stanton and an Earphones Awards for 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami.
He’s the voice of multiple hit sci-fi series including Star Force and Undying Mercenaries by B.V. Larson, The Black Fleet Trilogy by Joshua Dalzelle, and Mech Wars by Scott Bartlett.

Fun listen and no great surprises. Great way to pass the time. I recommend this one.

Fun and comfortably predictable.

Not a bad listen. Wish the set would have had more than books one and two

Good story

I ended up fast forwarding much of the first book, book 2 was better in terms of action.

Really slow start

This story delivers a compelling mix of military action and character development. Po Abbato, the main character, starts out as someone who isn't easy to like. His journey from a troubled young man to a Marine facing the harsh realities of war is both gripping and transformative. The narrative doesn't rush into battle but instead builds a solid foundation during boot camp, setting the stage for a larger conflict.

Boyett’s narration adds another layer, bringing out the personalities of each character and making the world feel immersive. His performance is spot on, whether during intense combat or quieter moments of self-reflection.

Bartlett excels at capturing the camaraderie and struggles that come with military life. This isn't just about explosions and space battles—there’s an emotional depth that keeps you invested in Po’s journey and eager to see where the next installment will take him. If you're a fan of military sci-fi, this series offers a satisfying blend of drama, action, and character growth. Highly recommended!

An Engaging Blend of Consequences and Redemption

I think the story had way too much build up and the action scenes weren't detailed enough for the payoff. Honestly a decent story, but there's no closure in the end of it for me

It's ok
