A woman who can’t remember her past encounters a mysterious stranger in a chilling novel of mounting psychological suspense by the authors of The Last Girl Left.

She wakes on the shore of a remote lake in the middle of the night, freezing and afraid. With no memory of who she is or how she got there, she stumbles frantically toward the lights of a house. The handsome stranger who lives there is shocked to see a woman on his doorstep and takes her in.

Trapped by a winter storm and cut off from the outside world, she starts to suspect that all is not right with the house on Gravewater Lake—or the man, who says his name is Gregg. Because there are whispers in the night, and phantom footsteps pace the halls. Is Gregg hiding a dark secret, or is she losing her mind?

As she struggles to remember her past and make sense of her present, she soon discovers that people are not always who they seem, and the truth might be more deadly than she could ever have imagined.

Critic reviews

“A deftly crafted novel of increasing psychological suspense, co-authors Strong and Sargent have raised their simply riveting novel to an impressive level of literary excellence, making it an especially and unreservedly recommended pick…”—Midwest Book Review

Gravewater Lake is a psychological thriller extraordinaire, a mind-bender of a tale that grabs hold and never lets go. A.M. Strong and Sonya Sargent have fashioned an exquisite tapestry drawn in deceit and desperation, shaded by noirish underpinnings that leave us questioning the very nature of reality itself. A Hitchcockian romp of madness and mayhem, Gravewater Lake drowns us in the darkness that lurks at its core. Not to be missed!”—Jon Land, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author

“A.M. Strong and Sonya Sargent have really found their stride in psychological thrillers with their latest novel. Gravewater Lake opens by plummeting off a roller-coaster precipice, then dives into breathless twists and turns that’ll keep you flying through this story. With an entire cast of nuanced characters, any one or all of whom may not be who they seem, when people start dying, you’ll have no idea who to trust and who to fear. The authors will keep you guessing until the very last page, and even then you’ll be surprised at what these two diabolically brilliant writers have cooked up. This one will keep you up late and sleeping with a light on. If you like thrills, chills, and things that go bump in the night, this book is for you.”—Cindy Dees, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author

Loved this book. The narrator was great too. So many twists & turns. it held my
attention start to finish, which doesn't always happen as sometimes it takes me awhile to get into a book.

Held my attention start to finish

Had me convinced i knew how this was going to end and who was who to the main character and then left my head spinning from the twists at the end! Very good book.

Did not see that coming!

I’m at a loss of where to start this review, as it would be so different had it not been for the last 20% of the story. I loved the build up and the quicker pace, instantly pulled in from the accident and A waking up on the shore. I was so paranoid all the way through and never trusted a single person introduced. It was so chilling to find out where the “others” in the house were and if it was paranormal, paranoia, or something else at play for A. The amnesia was fantastic and added a huge element to the surprise of the story. Once we got to the ending and introduced several more elements of characters and their contribution, it got so mired down in muck that I stopped enjoying it. The convention of the story was slow and felt like it came to a screeching halt. I hated the ending, especially the Stockholm Syndrome pieces and felt every bit of built up suspicion was ruined. I did enjoy the part about Helene as her agent stealing the story, as this was clever and buried in the story. The rest was so lackluster. I’d put 3⭐️⭐️⭐️ except that it was the last 20% that really tanked my experience with this story.

Such a waste of epic suspense
