Publisher's summary

Julian Leblanc's story is a sizzling fake relationship romance set in the heart of New Orleans.

She’s too damn hot, but also rude and unprofessional... yet that doesn’t stop me from becoming her fake boyfriend. I pride myself on never doubting my decisions. It’s why my business runs so smoothly. But when a disgruntled supplier tracks me down, and I discover that she lost business because of me, I’m determined to make things right.

First step—I invite Georgie to a Mardi Gras party, to wave the proverbial white flag. Only her asshole of an ex shows up, insulting her. All my protective instincts kick in and I kiss her on the spot. That shuts him up. The only problem is, once I have a taste, I crave more.

So I proposition to be her fake boyfriend. My excuse? I’ll help her get her clients back by taking her to elite parties around New Orleans. But this fake dating becomes addictive. Suddenly a kiss is not enough; a touch is only the beginning and Georgie is captivating me in a way no one ever did.

Then one evening at midnight, all masks come off. And so do our reasons for pretending.

I desperately want her, but I’m not the settle-down-type-of-guy, and Georgie deserves that. With her, I’ve become the man I never thought I ever could be. Our passion is real. But can we have more?

He falls first, hard and fast!

Julian LeBlanc is the newest LeBlanc brother to fall to his knees for the woman he loves. Julian is definitely “The Charmer” in Layla Hagen’s newest LeBlanc Brother story. Unknowingly Julian breaks a long standing contract between Books and Beads (Georgie’s store) and LeBlanc Conglomerates, both grandmother’s made a contract with Georie’s grandmother. Boy, does Georgie ever let him have it one night. She is so fun and confident when not around her ex. Let’s just say Julian is blown away by her confidence to confront him and cannot get Georgie out of his mind. Basically he fell first! Some of the tropes you will find in The Charmer are fake-relationship, bossy billionaire, close proximity, enemies-to-lovers, and steamy scenes. Steamy scenes are right, Julian and Georgie do get quite steamy together. I loved The Charmer. The characters are fun, witty, chemistry is through the roof, steamy scenes are quite hot too, and the setting is fabulous, New Orleans during carnival season(Mardi Gras). Now, let’s talk about the fabulous narrators that bring Georgie and Julian to your ears. Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder do a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life. For me, Jason Clarke is one of my top 3 most favorite male narrators. His voice is smooth, rich, vibrant, and oh se*y to listen to. He is excellent at a variety of male voices while at the same time just as talented as a female and young child voice. Emma Wilder is excellent at a variety of voices as well. Her range of voices makes listening to the story easy and enjoyable. Looking for a fun read with lots of witty banter throughout and an alpha hero who falls first? Then you will totally enjoy The Charmer by Layla Hagen!!

Even more enjoyable on audio!

4.5 stars - Fake dating has been my weakness lately, so this book was a dream for me. Starting off with feisty and determined Georgie, who's trying to save the business her grandmother started and passed down to her mom. When her ex is determined to belittle her at every turn, Julian steps in to protect her.

Julian is such a delight throughout the story and once he realizes how one of his actions affected Georgie's business, he's determined to make things right. These two are fire and I'm here for every moment!

I love how the story ties back to their grandmothers agreement, which was made decades ago. The story is based in New Orleans and I could practically smell the beignets through the pages. I adore the Leblanc Brothers series so far and they only get better!

Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder bring such depth to the characters with their narration, and I devoured the audiobook in one sitting.

Temptation too haunting to pass up.

The Charmer takes a different approach when it comes to matters of the heart. Julian and Georgie are determined to prove that the flames of attraction can be a roadblock on the highway of love. Hagen pushes emotions to the limit, with humor, heat and heartbreak. It's a turbulent ride that bursts the boundaries of romance wide open. Temptation too haunting to pass up.

The Charmer

First things first…. The fact that this series is set in New Orleans makes me so happy. Julian started off being super rude to Georgie, and I will admit I waited on the edge of my seat for his grandmothers to find out. That didn’t disappoint at all. Julian runs the bar branches of the family business. Georgie owns a small shop that does most of her business during Mardi Gras season with masks and float decorations. When a mishap makes Julian cancel their contract Georgie refuses to let it go. I found myself smiling so much while reading this book. It was such a fun read!

One of my favourite books of the year

If you love fake relationships and invested family stories look no further than the latest Leblanc brothers story in The Charmer ( The Leblanc Brothers #2). This is Julian Lablanc and Georgie’s entertaining and heartwarming journey and I highly recommend it to all romance lovers.
Julian owns The Lucky Spot bar in New Orleans and he meets Bookshelf and Beads shop owner, Georgie when she confronts him about cancelling the float decoration contract she has had since her grandmother opened their small shop years ago. Julian has no intention of getting involved with the sassy shop owner until her ex boyfriend turns up and is not very nice, so Julian comes to her rescue with a kiss and telling the ex to take a hike because Georgie is now his ……
Trying to make up for cancelling the contract Julian takes Georgie to exclusive Mardi Gras events in the hope she gets back the contracts that had been lost due to the flooding. But what happens when spending time together has feelings coming into play and the family meddling in Julian’s love life.
Emma Wilder and Jason Clarke did a fantastic job bringing the characters and their story to life. They were easy to listen to and they were spot on with the love and the banter that flows through this book.
This book is one of my favourite reads of 2024 and I’m telling you all to add The Charmer to your TBR list. The characters are adorable, the story is entertaining and more important you feel like you are sitting in the French Quarter experiencing Mardi Gras.

Great addition to series

I like this series set in New Orleans about the LeBlanc brothers. This is Julian's story. He keeps ignoring emails from one of his suppliers that his company quit doing business with. When the supplier, Georgie comes to his bar, he's intrigued by her. When one of his acquaintances starts making a scene with Georgie, Julian steps in and pretends to be involved with her. Julian finds out that this person is her ex. He's had business dealings with him and doesn't like him. When Julian finds out why his company canceled their contract with Georgie, he decides to help her. At the Mardi Gras parties that he takes her to, people start thinking that they are a real couple so they continue to keep fake dating until it becomes too real. Will Julian figure things out before it's too late? Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder bring Julian and Georgie to life.

Julian, oh Julian!!

He really was a charmer. It's been a while since I've read about an over-the-top man, fall so easy and unexpectedly. Thoroughly enjoyed Julian and Georgie. Can't wait for the rest of the LeBlancs. I had read the book, but Jason and Emma with their great narration skills, gave life to the characters. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
