Max is on a mission.
Well, two missions.
One has been assigned by his British spymasters: Infiltrate the Funkhaus, the center of Nazi radio and propaganda.
The other they have forbidden: Find his parents.
Max Bretzfeld was willing to do anything to return to Germany, even become a British spy. Training complete and forged papers in hand, the radio wunderkind’s missions have begun. But nothing is as he expected. His parents are missing. Nazi intelligence is watching him. And the lines between lies and truth are becoming more blurred every day.

Amazing sequel to Max in the House of Spies

After that, we watch Max - through harrowing events - slowly and ingeniously follow his mission instructions...until the finale which he so amazingly tweaks.
The little invisible German-Jewish beings on his shoulders (Berg and Stein) fulfill the children's book aspect cleverly and with some fun, but this is definitely more of an adult (or older teen) book in content and theme.
The ideology of Hitler and his "friends" is quite horrific and disturbing at times. The propaganda they spout "could" be believable to a younger reader. If kids do read this book, there should definitely be a "discussion" with parents afterwards.
Altogether, well researched and written. A fine conclusion to the first book.
An excellent and intense follow-up to Book 1
