I loved it even more over audio

This is my third reread of this series but my first time over audiobook. I absolutely adored the voice acting for this book, Cece was everything I imagined and more. Listening to this story added so much depth to an already amazing read. If you haven't listened or read yet please start now!! This series never fails to make me cry in the best way possible.

A great start

This was a solid first book in a series. Loved the world and magic system, the characters are easy to love as well. I’m not usually one for love triangles but this one I don’t mind so far.

Adventure, Love, Magic, this book has it all!

I felt like I was transported into a world I didn’t know existed. The characters have such depth, I felt like I was right there with each sentence. I can’t wait to listen to the whole series!

Worth a listen *Edited after book #2

***Edited: I just finished the second book in the series and I had to come back to say that book #2 obliterated my expectations!!! It was so freaking good- don't skip this series!!!***

For 50% of this book I thought I might DNF, and the other 50% was so engaging that I almost forgot! Flaws aside, I couldn't stop listening to it because it was freaking entertaining with just enough of the necessities for me to continue (interesting characters and magic system, relationships that show depth and draw me in to feel connected to the characters, a FMC that at least mostly sticks to a set of morals/values and makes decisions that are reasonable without excessive internal monologuing and miscommunication being a major theme).

Were there some plot holes? Yes. Did the FMC make me want to smack her and tell her to grow a backbone? Also yes. Those things are normally deal breakers for me, however, the action and magic and characters and plot jumped right off the page so I'll give the rest of the series a chance!
