Or to care whether or not any of the characters lived or died? If I was, the author failed.

The plot is …well I couldn’t find it so I don’t know what it was meant to be.

All of the action is contrived to such a degree that I not only couldn’t find the plot but I stopped caring if any of the characters lived or died a chapter in.

so, let me get this straight. you know there is a conspiracy going on inside your own military. you were the victim of an assassination attempt by those conspirators. you save as many of the other collateral damage victims as possible. for some reason you choose to hand over those survivors to the same military and go about your business without rooting out the conspirators and are shocked when you find out they couldn't be trusted with the survivors. I'm sorry. this is the stupidest thing I've read in years.

the vatta's war series weren't great, but they were entertaining for a light read. this just seems like lazy writing.
