This book just keeps getting better as you read it! A clear and easily understandable presentation of a topic that is so often overlooked and out of popular belief, teaching and religious practice in world cultures today. Reading this book may challenge how you think about God and how you approach aspects of His holiness.

The Profane vs the Holy

As usual RC Sproul tackled this topic from different angles. The two that stood out most to me were the discussion of the sermon by Jonathan Edwards, “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God”. He discussed how we are at enmity with God and still all that stands between us and the flames are the hands of God.
The last chapter is about Holy places and times. This was fascinating! He talked about the design of church buildings, and how some intend to help us sense the majesty and awe of God. In these buildings we make a transition when we enter and may experience the Holiness of God.
