Meet Frost, Morgan, and Belle—a wealthy, gorgeous group of New York City moms, the queen bees of downtown Manhattan. Their children attend Atherton Academy, the top private school in the city, and their social lives revolve around elaborate themed parties. On the first day of school, the arrival of a new mom and mysterious beauty from Miami, Sofia shakes up their world. When Sofia quickly integrates herself into their clique, inexplicably bad things start to happen to the women. Is someone at school out to get them?
Spanning the course of one eventful school year in New York, Mean Moms is part satire of upper-crust mom-ing and part mystery, interrogating the line between friendship and jealousy, and getting at the question:

What would happen if the woman standing next to you at school pickup was actually a sociopath?

Intriguing story. Love the narrator, but hard to keep the characters straight. A couple of crossover Easter eggs with characters from Bad Summer People.

Liked Bad Summer People better.

After reading some heavier books, I needed something light and this was perfect. The story is fun as it revolves around a group of over the top mothers, trying to maintain their social status at their children’s school. It’s a combination of drama, gossip, and grown up middle schoolers being caddy and obnoxious - with a heavy dose of maliciousness. It’s like reading about the characters from Gossip Girl as adults, still competing, back stabbing, and trying to outshine each other.

The characters are great, even if some are very annoying, as I am sure was intended. Their antics, business ideas, and theme parties were really fun.

I listened to this on audio and particularly liked all the voices and discussions in the school’s WhatsApp group. It was a fun book, and if you want to be entertained by some drama, pettiness, and gossip, I recommend it.

Not my usual genre of choice, but this was a really fun and well-narrated listen. Loved it!

“Mean Moms” is like being handed the gossip column no one’s supposed to read — and loving every single word. Emma Rosenblum doesn’t just tell a story; she invites you into the glittery, razor-sharp chaos of suburban mom politics. It’s juicy, wickedly funny, and just scandalous enough to make you text your best friend mid-chapter. The narrator? Flawless — she serves the snark and suspense like she’s been saving it for you. I devoured it in one sitting and already want seconds.
