Having grown up in the impoverished lower city of Jerusalem, Shamira is no stranger to injustice at the hands of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Her family is shunned by many in the Jewish community who believe that their misfortune in life is the result of a secret sin. Rumors are spreading of a nearby healer with incredible abilities; if the stories are true, then the Messiah may be near, and Shamira will stop at nothing in the pursuit of a miracle.

Asa spends every day at the temple under the tutelage of his strict father, an elite Levite priest who enforces the laws without mercy. Between the growing demands of the Roman government and the threats of the Zealots, tensions are high. When Shamira, the girl who stole his heart years ago, asks him to help her find the healer called Jesus, he must choose to either follow in his father’s footsteps or forge his own path.

Shamira knows that both her life and the lives of her loved ones could be changed forever, but only if she can find a way to speak to the man called Jesus of Nazareth before it's too late.

I am truly enjoying this book! I am on Chapter 11. The author did such a great job aligning scripture, history, culture. while still developing the characters and story. Great job!

Great Biblical Fiction

This was a very good book. I loved the story line and the way so many parts of scripture were woven into the characters’ lives. A real depiction of how the believers in Jesus must’ve felt when He was beaten and crucified; and how the new church in Jerusalem began. The narration was tolerable but not nearly as enjoyable as a real person’s voice. Some I’ve tried I just quit at the beginning. I listened to the entire book, so maybe the fake voices are getting better. Sad though, just another way to put real people out of a job.

This book is fantastic, I loved it from beginning to end. I felt like I was there, captivated, excited and moved

Excellent storyline...poor virtual voice

Story and characters are wonderful. I had a hard time getting through this one though. Virtual voice ...should not be used. Lacks inflection and nuance needed for storytelling.

The message of Love

The story was well thought out and lined up with scriptures. What took away from the book was the narration. This was flat, like the book being read to you by a computer, with little inflection and names were spelled out or pronounced incorrectly.
