This fleshed out something that happened in the first book and showed the readers what happened. If you’re curious about it, definitely listen to it but it didn’t add anything to the story. Not mad I got through this but eh

The magic was merely the vehicle for this odd couple to sort out their relationship issues. It was 99% domestic drama (trust, jealousy and insecurity issues) and 1% magical poltergeist story. If this was meant to whet my appetite for the series, I’m afraid it had the opposite effect.
