They took his family. What will he sacrifice to get them back?

Charlie Haynes is out of his depth. Magic is real. Demons are real. And he has the scars to prove it.

Three months after a harrowing demonic battle that almost cost him his life, Charlie is still plagued by nightmares. Worse still, he's being forced to work with a secret organisation hiding supernatural creatures from humans. When his family is abducted, it becomes clear the kidnappers want something Charlie has, an object that could destroy the veil between two realities.

Unsure of who he can trust, Charlie sets out to find his family. But in a world full of monsters, does the aging ex-detective have what it takes to find them? And what will it cost to get them back?

A warning: The Fractured Few contains scenes of violence and strong language, that some listeners may find distressing.

The Fractured Few by Elizabeth J. Brown is an amazing fantasy horror. Nigel Peever did an amazing job with the narration. The story is thrilling, horrifying, entertaining, interesting, exciting, suspenseful, terrifying, heart pounding, leaves you on the edge of your seat, and more. The Fractured Few is the second book in Brimstone Chorus series. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. highly recommended

Amazing

This is the companion story to the Laughing Policeman. Its quality is that of a old time radio play. I went through a range of emotions some parts are terrible sad especially that one part after a major big scene towards the end of the book.

Supernatural natural elements

The Fractured Few provides an intricate look into the Brimstone Chorus series. Charlie is forced to deal with the reality that magic, monsters, and demons are real and he now has to work with an agency that specializes in the supernatural. That is something Charlie can deal with until he becomes a target and his family is threatened.
This book is fast paced and the audiobook provides an extra dimension with sound effects that play along with the story. It truly is a creepy thrill ride as you try to keep the demons out of your head and not give in to their temptation.

Book 2 takes things to a whole new level—there’s a lot to keep up with, and I mean that in the best, creepiest way possible. At times, conversations start out feeling disconnected, only to reveal later how they tie into the bigger picture. It’s the kind of story that keeps you on edge, forcing you to pay close attention. The narrator did another superb job with the creepy vibe and storytelling, adding layers of unease that made the experience even more haunting.

I found myself rewinding often, trying to piece together all the layers and make sense of who was talking about what—and, honestly, that made it even more immersive. This isn’t a book you can multitask with. Trust me, you’ll want to give it your full focus, or you’ll miss those subtle connections that pack a punch later on.

The last two hours? Absolute chaos—in the best way. Action-packed and intense, they made the earlier slower parts worth it. I only wish there were more bright moments to break up all the tension. Still, it’s one of those stories that lingers, with shadows you can’t quite shake.
