Despite her best efforts, gluten-free baker Poppy McAllister finds herself confounded by a case of murder this Christmas in the latest installment of this delightful culinary B&B mystery series!

Ever since Thanksgiving, when an engagement ring in a velvet box—and no gift tag—was left behind, Poppy and her pals have been left with an unsolved mystery. But at least this mystery isn't the kind that involves murder. That all changes when the body of a fish supplier is discovered in the kitchen of her ex's restaurant—and he's frozen, not fresh.

For once, it's not Poppy who tripped over the corpse, yet she can't escape being drawn in since the victim has a note taped to him reading Get Poppy. Figures—an engagement ring isn't labeled, but the dead guy is addressed to her. Now, while Aunt Ginny plans a tree-trimming party and pressures Poppy to decode a mysterious old diary, the amateur sleuth is asked to "unofficially" go undercover at the restaurant to help the police. Until then, the only crime Poppy had been dealing with was the cat Figaro's repeated thefts of bird ornaments from the tree; now it looks like it's going to be a murder-y Christmas after all . . .

I love returning to Cape May!! I love returning to Poppy and the biddies and Sawyer and Joanne and Kenny!! the action is nonstop in silent nights are murder as yet another murder seems to follow Poppy McAllister and she is forced to figure out what is going on!! The pacing in this book is excellent. It does not drag at any part! We finally get to see who the ring is for and the ending of this is perfection chef’s kiss 10 out of 10!! if you need a cozy Christmasy book when you’re snowed in, i highly recommend picking this up!

A fantastic Christmasy cozy mystery!!!

Libby Klein is a very talented writer. She creates a twisted multi layered 'who done it' and infuses it with humor and truly human characters. I've read the entire Poppy McAlister series. Each book is a vivid portrait of life in Cape May. Be prepared to laugh and follow the leads through all the thought process as Poppy solves the mysteries.

vivid characters

I love, love, love this series, Poppy and her friends and family just come to life, it’s funny and a few times I did laugh out loud but I was also intrigued and wondered who was the murderer! I could not stop listening and Callie Beaulieu is one of my favorite narrators.

Another great read from Libby Klein
