Oh, man. We met Simon and Charlie in Book 3 of this series. I knew from those little teasers that this book was a must-read and I wasn’t wrong. Simon and Charlie have the most insane chemistry I’ve read in a while. I felt it in The One I Love, but adding all their history makes their love story so much better.

Holy goodness, sad-drunk Simon had my heart breaking 💔 You remember that scene from Dawson’s Creek when Pacey is trying to get Joey to understand she loves him? (No? Just me?!?) Well, that scene is a core memory and Chris Chambers’ performance pulled that memory from my brain, along with all the angst that goes along with it.

Charlie was Simon’s perfect match. He needed somebody who would allow his foolishness to a certain point, but could also keep him in line. Simon was golden retriever energy. His internal dialogues were hilarious 🤣 The way he instantly flipped from fun-uncle to best-daddy had me all melty.

TLDR: The-One-Who-Got-Away, but she was your best friend and you became a typical bachelor because she broke your heart. Then she comes back and you do everything to keep her.

Second chance for Bug

Not a huge fan of second chances, especially those that are based on a misunderstanding that a simple conversation would have resolved, but it's hard not to love Simon and his antics. Chelle always delivers laugh out loud moments, and this book had plenty. The banter between Simon and his friends and how Charlie sees the world kept me listening.

The world building in and interconnections between Chelle's books is well done, and while each could be read as a standalone, the stories are more enjoyable when read in order.

This story was easy to follow even when it retells its past with periodical flashbacke. Also, the MMC Simon, is hilarious to me. Well-done, Author! Well-done, Narrators! I will definitely be addiing it to my favaorites.
