What if I don't know how to "do stuff" all the other gays can do? What if I don't know the name of that gay Netflix movie? What if I'm not obsessed with Jennifer Coolidge like everyone else? Am I really bad at being gay?

While being gay has become more socially and legally acceptable, there's a specific kind of gay that's most accepted. He's hot, jacked, white, loves iced coffee, watches Drag Race, and has a service job but somehow travels to Palm Springs every summer,

In this book, Kyle and Mike aim to break down the most prolific gay stereotypes in popular discourse - drawing on personal experience, up-to-date research, social history and maybe even Wikipedia to demonstrate first-hand how we're all a mixture of gay and straight stereotypes. So - whether you're gay or not - you're probably gayish...©2025 Mike Johnson and Kyle Getz

I’m a long-time fan of the podcast so the book was a welcome extension of the Gayish ecosphere. It was a lot of fun to grow my parasocial relationship with Kyle and Mike, even if it meant learning some things that were hard to hear but brave to reveal. It’s always enjoyable to explore the truthiness of gay stereotypes, especially with these two. I even learned some new ones. (Iced coffee?!? I mean, I drink it but I had no idea it was gay…) Well done, gentlemen. There’s room on my audiobook shelf for volume 2.

If you love the Gayish Podcast, you'll love this book. Kyle and Mike deliver candid and authentic stories, commentary and researched facts about some of the most famous gay stereotypes. The cadance brought about the "recipe" of each chapter is similar to their episodes and I loved the authentic, real production.
